All questions should be directed to the Chorus Manager, Jill Weisblatt at

With some of the area’s finest voices, Jacksonville Symphony Chorus members come from all walks of life who share the spirit of singing great choral music. The tradition of making great music with the Jacksonville Symphony started in 1985 with a roster including many professional musicians and skilled amateur performers. Since 2012, the Chorus had been led by esteemed choral director and composer Donald McCullough.

The Jacksonville Symphony Chorus celebrated its 30th season with a performance at Lincoln Center in November 2014. Singers from the Jacksonville Symphony Chorus traveled to New York to form the core of a 120-member chorus under Mr. McCullough’s direction, presented by Distinguished Concerts International New York (DCINY).

The all-volunteer Jacksonville Symphony Chorus has sung for many landmark Symphony events. Performance highlights include Mahler’s “Resurrection” Symphony for the tenth anniversary of Jacoby Symphony Hall and Orff’s Carmina Burana for the Jacksonville Symphony’s first-ever commercial recording. The Chorus has also sung in each of the Jacksonville Symphony’s annual grand opera productions.

Time Involvement

The Jacksonville Symphony Chorus rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7:30–10:00PM, September through May. Performance week will consist of a piano rehearsal and 1-2 orchestra dress rehearsals. Performance week rehearsals will be located at the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts.  Members are expected to commit to an entire season and attend all rehearsals.  Those missing more than 2 rehearsals will be required to demonstrate a proficiency of the performance music prior to the final dress rehearsal.  Those who do not know the repertoire may be asked not to sing that concert program.

Members are required to learn notes outside of rehearsals. Learning aids will be made available on the member website.

When you audition, we assume that you want to sing the entire season. Schedule conflicts are worked out on an individual basis.
